The Domaine Digest - 4.18.18

Who we're following.

Our favorite finds from Instagram - click for some daily inspiration.

He may be the man of the moment on Instagram these days, as interior designer and McAlpine partner Ray Booth has recently seen a very lauded book released--one that has the IG design world talking.  Those of us lucky enough to live in Nashville where we are surrounded by examples of Ray's work, along with the rest of the McAlpine team, already know what all the hubbub is about, but in case you're not hip to Ray Booth, then give his IG a follow, take a look at the section below, and thanks us later.

What we're eyeing.

Our favorite finds of the moment, sure to make your house or your life, just a little better, a little prettier, or perhaps just a bit more awesome.

We're sticking with the theme here, as we must advise that you quickly rush out to your nearest independent book Man, Woman, or store (Old Nashville reference right there), or if you must, to pick up the latest and greatest from Rizzoli press.  The is the first book to feature Ray's work exclusively, and many of our Nashville favorites are featured in this lovely tome.  Ray's work, starting with his foundation as a trained architect, always starts from a very modern, angular, structured place, but often quickly veers into the romantic and whimsical.  It's a lovely strut through his various interior ideas and concepts, and sure to please the most discerning eye or coffee table book snob.

What We're Reading.

The latest, and dare we say, the most important real estate news you need to see, curated by yours truly.

To island or not to island, that is the kitchen question.

For years now, the kitchen island has been at the proverbial, if not literal, center of the home. Part dining space, part workspace, and certainly where everyone ends up congregating during parties and holidays, the kitchen island has been a staple of the new American house.  But is that wrong?  The Wall Street Journal tackles the hard-hitting questions of the day in a piece called, "Why Kitchen Islands Are Ruining America’s Kitchens."  Now if that headline doesn't grab your attention, you're probably a relatively balanced individual who doesn't work in real estate.  BUT if you are one of those imbalanced, real-estate types, read on!
